The firm

In Bangsar since 2001.

Adil & Partners is a firm of advocates and solicitors at Wisma Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, established in 2001 and led by its managing partner, Dato' Adil Rashid.

We act for families buying and selling homes, for companies and the contracts they sign, and for people in disputes, whether in the civil courts or at the Industrial Court. We also draft wills and administer estates.

Matters are handled in English or Bahasa Melayu, by the lawyer named on your letter of engagement.

Questions

Asked before the first meeting.

  1. Fees

How much does a consultation cost?

The first 30 minutes are free for new clients. After that, we give you a written fee estimate before any work begins.

  2. Fees

    How are your fees set?

By written estimate, agreed before we start. Conveyancing fees follow the scale in the Solicitors' Remuneration Order 2023, with stamp duty and disbursements listed separately.

  3. Urgent

Do you handle urgent court injunctions?

Yes. We take urgent ex parte and inter partes injunction applications. Call the office or WhatsApp us and say it is urgent.

  4. Clients

Can you act for foreign clients or companies?

Yes. We act for foreign-incorporated companies, expatriates and overseas investors on Malaysian law matters, including company set-up, property purchases and commercial disputes.

  5. Time

How long does a court case take?

It depends on the court and the case. As a general range, simple debt recovery takes 6 to 12 months and a High Court civil suit 2 to 4 years. We give you our view at the first meeting.

  6. Engagement

Does the free meeting make you my lawyer?

No. A lawyer and client relationship begins only when you sign our letter of engagement. Until then, what we say is general guidance.

  7. Family

Do you handle Muslim divorce or faraid?

No. Muslim family and estate matters are heard in the Syariah courts and handled by Syariah counsel. We can refer you to one.
